Application and SelectionThe total number of course participants including speakers is limited to 130 to facilitate interactions and training. The target audience include postdoctoral fellows, PhD and MSc students as well as senior scientists from academia, research institutes and private sectors with experience in the areas of extracellular matrix research.
Every applicant is expected to present a poster and upon selection a short talk or a flash presentation. Applicants should indicate their choice at abstract submission.
All abstracts will be reviewed by the organizers. The selection will be based on the quality of the abstract submitted at the time of application. Only abstracts of appropriate scientific quality and relevant to the themes of the Course will be selected.
Participants will be notified if their application was successful and the type of presentation via email.
How to apply
Deadline for registration/abstract submission is 31 May 2018.1. Complete a registration order through the 'REGISTER' portal on this event website. When you complete the registration order you will receive an 'order received e-mail' with full instructions on how to proceed with your application and a copy of the order in PDF.
2. Submit your abstract via the 'My abstract' tab in the Registrant's Account. See the Abstract section of the website for more details.
Deadline for Youth Travel Found grants application is 31 May 2018.If you apply for FEBS YTF grant, in addition to the above, click YES to "Apply for a Travel Award" in Registrant information tab during your registration. Additionaly, upload a single file (accepted formats are pdf and zip) containing all supporting documents for your application.
- Letter of Recommendation, preferably from your lab head/supervisor, not exceeding 300 words (for PhD students or post-doctoral scientists within 5 years of receiving a PhD)
- Proof of current FEBS Constituent Society membership (scanned copy of current membership certificate/letter from your FEBS Constituent Society)
- Curriculum Vitae, (max 2 pages)
- Letter of Motivation, describing reasons why you would benefit from attending the Advanced lecture course and your research interest (max 300 words)
- Proof of Age: a scanned copy of ID showing date of birth (national ID card or passport).
You will be notified of the outcome of your application by 15 June 2018. Accepted applicants must then pay the relevant registration fee as set out in the table below, by 30 June 2018. Applicants selected to receive FEBS YTF award will not pay the registration fee. More details on registration fee payment will be included in your outcome notification, and key points are also given in the terms and conditions.
The registration fees include the attendance at the course, book/usb of abstracts, lunches, accommodation (5 nights, in shared or single rooms), welcome reception, dinners and farewell party. No payments can be made before notification of acceptance has been received from the organizers.
Please note that all registration fees include VAT. Your Institution/ University VAT number will be requested at the Registration Form for the necessary invoices.Travel costs are not covered by the registration fee.

Terms and Conditions
By registering for the event, you are entering an agreement with the Course Organizers, and you are indicating acceptance to the terms and conditions set out below.
Methods of Payment
Payments must be made by bank transfer; details will be included in your outcome notification email.
Bank charges are the responsibility of the participant and should be paid at source. Event name, your full name, Order ID and VAT number must be indicated during the bank transfer.
Payment deadline is 30 June 2018.
A confirmation notification will be sent to you when organizers receive the fund and confirm your registration in the system. If you do not receive confirmation within 7 business days after the payment, please contact us at info@ExtracellularMatrix.febsevents.org.
Registration cancellation & refund policy
All registration cancellation requests should be sent to info@ExtracellularMatrix.febsevents.org in writing. For cancellation requests received on or before 10 August 2018, the full payment, less bank charges, will be refunded; for cancellation requests received on or after 11 August 2018, the full amount will be charged and no refunds will be made.
Certificates of Attendance
You will be able to download a FEBS Advanced Course branded Certificate of Attendance when you submit the Feedback Survey (after finishing the Course). The Feedback Survey will be displayed at your Registrant's Web Account after your check in at the event.
You should seek and follow the advice of your government before registering and booking travel for the event and before travelling to the event. You are solely responsible for making your own appropriate travel and other insurance arrangements before booking travel for the Congress.
Modification and cancellation of the event
The Course Organizers reserve the right to modify the event programme, which is published as an indication only.
In the event of cancellation of the event, at any time, as a result of any event of 'force majeure' or for other reasons that are beyond the control of the Course Organizers, the registration fee shall be refunded by the Course Organizers but neither the Course Organizers nor FEBS shall be held liable for any other costs or losses incurred, such as transportation costs, financial losses, etc.
Disclaimer and ‘force majeure’
Neither the Course Organizers nor FEBS shall be responsible for any bodily injury/death or property damages (including theft) sustained by participants during the event, unless such damages are a direct result of the negligent or unlawful act or omission thereof.
In any event, neither the Course Organizers nor FEBS accept liability for damages in the event of bodily injury/death, property damage, disruption to travel plans and costs incurred as a result of ‘force majeure’. ‘Force majeure’ (or ‘Act of God’) reasons include but are not limited to: war or threat of war, riots, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial disputes, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, epidemics, health risks, fire and closure of airports or airspace.
